  Description
1. Waterproof to a water column of 100 metres The waterproof coatings are on the inside
of the bags and thus protected from outside influences. These thermoplastic coatings guarantee extremely high waterproofing – not to be compared with ordinary tent or rucksack coatings.
2. Optimised coating adhesion An exceptionally high degree of adhesion is essential to ensure the durability of the inner coating on the fabric.
3. Fold resistant to 100,000 folds Many of our products feature the roll closure and have to meet stringent requirements for the fold resistance of
the fabric.
4. Manufactured to ORTLIEB’s specifications Ortlieb coated fabrics are not standard materials. They are jointly engineered with our suppliers for a specific field of application and are manufactured to our own quality standards.
5. Quality-controlled Ortlieb test all important material properties as part of our incoming goods inspection using defined test systems. The pannier Mounting systems are subjected to very tough riding simulation tests.
6. High-frequency welded Only industrial-standard high-frequency welds allow high seam strengths and excellent waterproofing within narrow manufacturing tolerances. This quality standard cannot be achieved with other types of welding.
7. Azo-free dyes Although ORTLIEB products are not subject to the AZO ordinance, we only use AZO-free dyes.
8. When we say waterproof, we mean it! All fabrics used and all welded seams are waterproof. Properly closed products (see below) are dustproof with all closure methods. The level of waterproofing depends on the type of closure:
Products with... ... roll closures are waterproof for floating if properly (grease-free and tight) rolled at least 4 to 5 times.
... velcro are waterproof for floating if folded twice and if the velcro strip is closed over the full width of the bag.
... TIZIP-zippers are waterproof if completely closed
... Quick-Seal closures in combination with a roll closure are waterproof for floating
... Quick-Seal closures are waterresistant.
